This is how I did it......!!!

Here is how I got everything listed in my last post for $3.90....

The jeans were on clearance for $4.98...I used a coupon that I printed from HERE for $5.00 off any denim at Target. The jeans then became absolutely free!!

The yoplait yogurt I had a MFC that I got by liking them on Facebook...They sent it to me in the mail and it was good for one free Yoplait yogurt.

The Danimal Smoothies were on sale for $1.89..and I used a .55 off MFC..making them $1.34...

The Up and Up Ibprofun were priced at .99...I used a Target web coupon that I got Here which was good for $1.00 off any Up & Up pain reliever. Price= FREE

The Up and Up dryer sheets were $1.37...I used a Target web coupon that I got Here for $1.00 off Up and Up cleaning product..Dryer sheets count as a cleaning  product so my final price for these was .37....

The Up and Up dental floss was priced at .99...I used a Target web coupon that I got Here for $1.00 off Up and Up Dental product, making them free after my coupon.

The huggies wipes I had a MFC for $2.00 off any 3 packages of Huggies Wipes...So I bought the travel wipes which were priced at $1.27....This means I paid $1.81 for all the packages..

The Wolfgang Puck Organic soups were priced at $1.99...I made 2 purchase transactions because you can not use two identical Target web coupons in the same transaction....I printed 2 Target web coupons HERE and 2 MFC I printed HERE....Making both cans of soup FREE after stacking the coupons!

Not too bad....

On my recent shopping trip and goal of $25.00, I ended up spending $32.00 after tax...I also did add juice, 4 oranges and 2 bottles of soda to my list...So all in all , it was a great trip.....However I did not use all the coupons that I had planned on because it was cheaper to buy another brand.....this is one important thing to remember when using coupons, it is NOT ALWAYS cheaper....I did score a pretty good deal on the hot dogs...I bought 2 packages at $1.09 each and used a $1.00/2 coupon, making them about .59 each....and they are the jumbo size which will make them last a little bit longer for our family...the smaller ones my girls will each eat 2 at one meal, but the jumbo ones they will only eat 1. Definately a good deal!!! I did check the reduced carts but did not find a single thing...bummer...but next time I go, I might hit the jack pot :-)It just all depends on the day..I also buy alot of things in the reduced cart for our local food pantry...its a great way for us to be able to donate alot of stuff each month but on a budget....I did score my free bottle of Herbal Essence Shampoo/cond combo which was great...I don't need shampoo right now but I put it in my stock pile so it will be there when I do..I recommend everyone stockpile when you find a good deal...Over the summer, Menards had dish soap on sale for $1.00 several times, and it was for the large bottles...so over the summer we went and bought 6 at time...and now we prob have about 20 bottles stockpiled and I prob won't need to buy any for several months...Even with coupons, I rarely get the large size dish soap for $1.00...we don't have a dishwasher so we go through the soap like crazy...always great to have alot on hand.....:-)

$25.00 Week Challenge.....

This week I have a challenge on my hands...to buy groceries for my family of four for $25.00........on average per week I would say that I usually spend $40-$60...depending on our needs for the week...Like many families, the economy has made us drastically have to reduce our spending. My husband's work is seasonal and in the winter we are really pinching our pennies..In the summer, we don't have to pinch as much, but we choose to...I am always looking for ways to save money..In the summer, we try and save as much money as we can for the winter but it just goes so fast once winter is here.....We have taken a few steps to help our groceries go farther...For example, I had a pack of large size juice boxes for my girls which came 8 to a package....I gave them each half a box in the morning with their breakfast, and the juice boxes ended up lasting 8 days instead of just 4...There are so many ways that you can be more economical, this is just a simple example.....

I have alot of coupons to use for my $25.00 week challenge, but it will be just that, VERY challenging to actually do it....Below is a list of what I need:

crackers
tortillas
cheese
hot dogs
tomato sauce
2 boxes of pasta
coffee
shampoo- I have coupon for free bottle.
Therma wrap- I have coupon for free pack.
frozen veg.
salad
cheerios
waffles
chicken
ramen
bread
eggs
canned fruit

I am hoping that my coupons will really help cut the cost..but I only have $8.75 in coupons..My store has several reduced item carts that I always check....I get alot of my canned goods in there very cheap because the label might be torn or something like that....But the carts are hit or miss.....Hoping to find some cheap deals in there today....they also have carts for things that are about to expire that I check..if it is something that I will be using quick, I will grab it......I will let you know how it goes and stay tuned for more ways to be more economical!

Top Five Ways to Be a Savvy Shopper Using Coupons........

Top five ways to be a savvy shopper using coupons!!

1. USE COUPONS :-) Using coupons is a great way to save money. You can find coupons in your local paper as well as a variety of places online. If you are using online coupons, you may print 2 coupons for that item per computer. BEWARE of fradulent sites however, try to stick with sites that you are familiar with. It is also a good idea to know your stores coupon policy that can usually be found on their website. Shop at stores that will let you "stack" coupons. This means using ONE store coupon+ONE Manufactures coupon( MFC) on the same item. Target is one store that I shop at the does this. You can go to http://www.target.com/... click on coupons and savings and print coupons. Sometimes they say target web coupon, other times they are just MFC's so you have to look to see what it is after in prints...It will not let you know until after it prints what type of coupon it is but usually they have lots of Target web coupons available...

2. Just because you have a coupon, doesn't mean your getting a good deal:

You need to decide if it is a good deal to use the coupon or just buy a different product that is cheaper. There are times where using the coupon won't save you any money, you just are using a coupon:-) It is a good idea to check quanity, weight, etc...to see what the best deal is!

3. Know your prices:

I tend to shop at just a few stores and for many of the items that I buy I know on average what the prices are at that store..This helps to me to know where to use my coupons and get the best deal!

4. Regularly look for coupons and deals online:

I check a few times a day to see what new coupons and deals are out there. Often times if there is a "hot" coupon which could mean a high value coupon it may only be available for a short time before the site host removes it.

5. Before you go shopping get your coupons ready:

Rather than taking coupons to the store and then randomly trying to find them, have a basic plan before you go to the store. This will help you be more efficient. I like to organize the coupons that I plan on using before hand. I also try to find coupons for the majority of stuff on my shopping list. Sometimes I have a coupon for everything, sometimes I have very few. I try to buy brands that I have a coupon for. If you want to optimize your coupon use, you can not really be brand loyal.

Stay tuned for more tips on how to be a savvy shopper!

First Post!!!

Welcome to my blog!! I have decided to start this blog in order to help families learn how to save money while also being able to give back to the Jesus mission. As a christian, this is my goal....God has blessed me with so much and I would like to pay it forward. Becoming a "super" couponer will help me in this mission and my hope is that you will find the information helpful as well...I use a variety of resources and will post them on here as a resource.....Often times by using coupons and shopping sales, I can get many items for FREE or very little cost at the store...I frequently give them away or keep them for myself, but it is a great way to not only to help my familie's budget but help other families as well...One of my goals is to take the money that I save and donate it to different organizations or people that I know are in need...I will be posting shopping trips, coupon resources, ways to cut your budget yet give more, as well as a variety of other things. I hope this blog will be a positive, encouragaing, resourse in your life!!
